Essay Contest
Hello students!
The South Pasadena Lodge 290 located on Fair Oaks Avenue is giving you the opportunity to win a Cash Prize for writing a short essay. Each year, the South Pasadena Masonic Lodge chooses a different school in our community and a different essay topic. This year, students of South Pasadena High School have been selected.
You can be the winner if you provide a response to the prompt below:
New technologies in particular Artificial Intelligence (AI) are being developed and utilized in many fields, including art, music, science, movie, and many other industries. Will these AI technologies eventually replace human talent and creativity?

Your essay should be written and uploaded to this website during the contest time window (Feb. 01, 2023 - Feb. 15, 2023).

In your argumentative essay, you must establish a position on the topic, generate your ideas and provide evidence for your opinion in a three-paragraph essay.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Any current 9th - 12th grade student attending SPHS is eligible to participate in the Essay Contest. The contest begins February 1, 2023 and runs through February 15th, 2023 with winners announced at the end of the month of March.
PRIZES
The first, second, and third-place winners will be contacted by the Pasadena Masonic Lodge.

JUDGING
All entries will be judged by a panel of judges who will read and select the winners from all submissions. The top three scoring essays will be selected.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION
It is important you add your personal information at the end of your essay utilizing a table as mentioned above. Save your document as a pdf, and then upload it to this website. Other formats will not be accepted.
