Bilateral Masonic Red Degree Conferral
The Masons of South Pasadena Masonic Lodge No. 290 F&AM cordially invite you to the first-ever bilateral Masonic Red Degree Conferral between California and Sonora, Mexico.
A historic conferral of a Red First Degree by Alonso Flores Lodge No. 16, from Nogales, Sonora. This degree will be hosted at the South Pasadena Masonic Lodge No. 290, celebrating fraternal unity, ritual and timeless tradition.
When
Saturday, October 4th, 2025.
Dinner will be served at 5:30 PM
Degree conferral beginning at 7:00 PM.
Prior to the degree, a brief explanatory lecture will be given in English for those who do not speak Spanish. Kindly note that the First Red Degree will be conferred entirely in Spanish. Following the ceremony, a toast and libations will be offered in the lodge library.
About the Degree
This historic exchange between lodges from different countries and cultural backgrounds marks the beginning of future cross-cultural Masonic collaborations.
Its purpose is to unite brothers from across borders in Masonic harmony and education through the conferral of a Red First Degree. Attendees will have the rare opportunity to witness a degree that not only honors traditional Masonic ritual but also incorporates cultural nuances that might otherwise go unseen—a degree from a different lodge, in a different language, offering a timeless experience through a brother’s unique perspective.

This event is open to all Masons in good standing.
RSVP by October 1, 2025.
Reservations are $15 per person and include a buffet dinner with vegetarian options.
Please note: this is an official degree conferral—appropriate Masonic attire is required.
Though the degree is in Spanish, brothers of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds are warmly encouraged to attend—this is a unique opportunity to witness a Masonic experience unlike any other.
About the South Pasadena Masonic Lodge No. 290
South Pasadena Masonic Lodge was chartered by the Grand Lodge of California in 1888, the same year the city was born. Our Lodge has been serving the community and its surrounding cities for the past 134 years! The building we currently occupy, which we built in 1930, is our fourth home. Mayors, doctors, actors, scientists, mechanics, police chiefs, lawyers, school administrators, filmmakers, engineers and the like, have been raised in our lodge, all helping build its eclectic identity that we admire and cherish.
